I’m Hamish Walker and I’m a very passionate advocate for the business community.
I am standing for the Chamber Board because I love Queenstown, and a healthy community is only possible with a thriving business community. I see the Chamber as an important organisation which helps businesses thrive by ensuring businesses are represented loud and clear.
Over the past three years I have been the Member of Parliament for Clutha-Southland and I have worked hard advocating for many different causes for the business community. Over the past few months, I have been working towards bringing a major sporting event to Queenstown in 2021.This would bring significant benefits to our businesses.
I have excellent networks and relationships within Local and Central Government, and key stakeholder groups.
I previously served the community for a number of years in many roles including a board director on the Otago Rugby Union and member of the Otago/Southland Lotteries Committee.
I have been a successful business owner and have worked in the banking, accounting and real estate industry.
I have a Bachelor of Business majoring in Accounting.
