On behalf of myself, the Chamber board and our team, I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy Christmas and New Year.
I would like to thank all our members for your support during the year. We are an active Chamber with a strong voice and this is due to your support and engagement throughout the year.
It has been a busy time for us as we continue to grow with a membership base of 640 businesses which is proportionally larger than any other towns our size. The Chamber board have worked hard over the last 12 months advocating on your behalf around issues including labour force demand/ supply and skills issues; worker accommodation; economic development projects including preparing a case for a visitor levy; destination management projects including the Downtown QT Association and a wide range of other Queenstown projects.
So 2016 has been a busy and interesting year and we are looking forward to bringing more opportunities for our members in 2017, starting with the launch of the Chamber’s new website. The new website will make your online experience more streamlined and one of the key changes is how to book and pay for Chamber Activities online – see below instructions on how to access.
Our Business Building Blocks Series initiated during the year has been highly successful and we will continue these sessions in the New Year covering practical topics such as Immigration, Key Sales Techniques, Creating New Ideas, Xero Training and Small Business Accounting.
We are also looking forward to our major events for 2017:
24 March – Deloitte Business Conference
6 April - Annual Golf Tournament
19 May – Business Women’s Conference
9 June – Business Warrant of Fitness
As we head towards the busy season, I would like to encourage everyone to be patient and considerate on the roads. Attached is a recent press release from QLDC regarding planning for the summer period. Additional car parking has been opened up at Wakatipu High School and Queenstown Primary School.
Remember that tourism is our life-blood and we are all ambassadors for Queenstown.
The Queenstown Chamber of Commerce will be closed to the public from Tuesday 20 December 2016 and will reopen on Monday 16th January 2017.
I wish you and your families a very happy Christmas and New Year period and look forward to seeing you in 2017.
