Dear Member,

Before we break for the festive season I want to write a personal message to all our loyal members.

As I am sure you are aware, the Queenstown Chamber is a membership organisation. We are well supported in the community and have many long-term and new members that find our services, events and advocacy work beneficial to their businesses. Being a Chamber member means becoming part of a group of like-minded businesspeople who seek to learn from and support each other at all times, a group which recognises that great business makes for great community.

One of the highlights of this year for the Chamber has been our recruitment of a CEO of such calibre and professionalism as Ruth Stokes.  The Board has been impressed with Ruth’s first year in the job and thanks to the support of our members we have managed to achieve things we didn’t think we could.

Under Ruth’s leadership the membership remains strong and our events continue to be of a high quality and well attended. Additionally, many mutually beneficial partnerships have been formed with local businesses that will enable the Chamber to deliver even more value to our members in the future. The often-unseen work of advocacy is a real strength of Ruth’s, it is important for our members to know she is working hard in your best interests, often up against strong opposition. Our members can view our financials (as disclosed at our recent AGM) to establish that our organisation is well run and operating within its means.

The Board is taking this opportunity to publicly thank Ruth for her hard work and dedication to the Chamber and our valued members.

I am fully aware it has been a tough two years and I understand there are deep feelings of frustration and anxiety in our community. If you are feeling overwhelmed, or need someone to talk to, please reach out. There are many services that can help, and one of our many roles is to help facilitate access to them.

I hope over the festive season you either get some rest or some much-needed customers, whichever is best for you and your business!

Thank you all for your support in 2021. On behalf of the Chamber Board I wish you all the best and look forward to seeing you all again in 2022. Supporting each other is how our community will continue to thrive.
