Dear Member

Thanks to your ongoing support, the team and I have had the opportunity to review how we operate and what we are doing for you and that means there are going to be some changes, good changes, but changes none the less.

Firstly, we are going to be moving our annual membership renewal date to align with our financial year.  For many of you who have been with us a number of years, this might be a little back to the future, but as with all businesses we have been looking at how best to put our energies into adding value to members, rather than administration!

For those that have renewed recently, thank you and for those whose renewals will be coming up, there will be a (hopefully pleasant!) surprise in that your subscription will be pro-rated for the remainder of the financial year, being until 30 June 2022.  New members will still be able to join at any time, but the first subscription will also be pro-rated for the remainder of the membership year.

Next up, and probably of far more interest, is you will start to see a diversification in our member offerings, including a number of complimentary events. As well as low charge targeted events to meet requests we are getting from members for information and networking opportunities.

The first is a new bi-monthly series called UnWined, which is intended to be a smaller, more intimate opportunity for you to engage with Fiona and I, and representatives from our Board.  We really want to hear what's going on for you and over time we will look to position these around topical issues. You will find all the information on this new event below.

We will have more new exciting opportunities to announce soon.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete our "Have your say" survey we sent out yesterday.  If you haven't taken part, you can do so here, and the results will be provided directly to key Government decision makers.

100 businesses completed it yesterday, and the key messages coming through are:
  • Auckland will make a difference of 50% or more for over 70% of our businesses
  • It will take 12 months or more for half of our businesses to recover from this last lockdown
  • and well over a third of businesses report their wellbeing is a 3 or lower on a 10 point scale
Outside of continuing to advocate for additional and ongoing financial support, we are also very strongly giving the message to Government that while the pandemic means uncertainty on the path, there can be certainty given on the conditions under which decisions on changes to our border management, including MIQ, will be made.  The Government needs to know this state of limbo is taking a very real toll on our collective mental health.

I am really looking forward to talking to some of you next week face to face but please feel free to reach out at any time to catch up.  The team and I are here for you.

Take care

Ruth
