 Just a quick update today, following the announcement that we will be spending the week at Alert Level 3.  If you would like us to give your business a shout out as you "open" during this time, please send us a message on Facebook or Instagram, or even an old school email, for us to share with the local community.  

For more information on what operating at Level 3 means for your business, or even just to check that you have covered everything off, please join us tomorrow at 3pm along with representatives from MBIE and Business NZ.  

Finally, following the successful "Zoom" with Southern PR last week, you are welcome to join us tomorrow afternoon from 4pm to learn more about how to make your business award entry shine.

Support Business with a weekly subsidy

With the suggestion that Auckland will be in lockdown for a further two weeks, the Auckand Chamber is promoting the idea that it is time that employers got offered a similar package that is being offered to employees.

Currently employees are receiving the wage subsidy from Government and if business claim the wage subsidy for employees it means they should pay the employees 80% of their wage. For Business this means the employers are topping up the Government subsidy at a time where they have no revenue coming in. 

On top of this cost business has its weekly overheads of rent, rates, subscriptions, hire purchases and a range of other costs. The one off resurgence payment, however, is just that, one off.  And unlike the wage subsidy, you can't compare back to 2019 in applying for it.  

If you would like to support the Auckland Chamber in its advocacy to Government, please consider signing the petition below. We have been asked to pause business to protect public health, extending the resurgence package is a reasonable request in return.

There is plenty of time to get your entry in, with entries closing 23 September. The entry process has been simplified this year with only three questions per category, which can be done entirely online.
