Women in Business Series: Morning Tea with Tori Keating from xtravel

Rising to the Challenge- The Amazing Adventures of a Covid grounded Travel Agency

It’s been a funny old time for travel agents navigating their way through unending cancellations, border restrictions and constantly changing Covid requirements since February 2020, but out of adversity sometimes comes clarity and purpose. Through tenacity, kindness and a bit of relentless badgering of governments, Queenstown’s xtravel have pirouetted (cos that’s how women pivot) and turned their travel agency into a repatriation agency, helping over 2000 people return to their respective homes throughout the past 2 years.

From chartering 12 seater Cessna airplanes between South Island cities to hiring 289 seater Boeing Dreamliner’s between continents, xtravel co-owner Tori Keating will be sharing her team’s story of resilience, tears (of both joy and frustration), sleepless nights and reunited families, and talking about how authenticity and kindness can save a business, and hopefully the world.

xtravel won the Remarkables Park Covid Resilience and Diversification award at the RealNZ 2021 Business Awards.

xtravel are the official Queenstown partner of the `Uplift’ Project- an initiative which `supports’ women of the South Pacific by providing new and used bras to women who do not have access to these luxuries which we might call every day essentials. If you’ve done a clean out over the holidays and need to make room in your undies drawer they’d be grateful to accept any bras the women of the Whakatipu might have to give at the morning tea.
